Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

My boyfriend and I have been rentin a small studio in a small building complex. And we have been having arguments. (no damages on each and on the apartment or anything)

Someone in the building has called the cops twice on us.

I feel that we are not making any loud noises. We keep it in our apartment and we do have our arguments but I don't think that it is that bad that cops should have to come to our apartment. It is really embarassing.

What should we do?

Obviously, the walls are thin and your squabbles are annoying your neighbors. You run the risk of receiving a notice to abate or quit (i.e. being evicted for creating a nuisance for your neighbors). It's your choice -- keep the din down, enter into an agreement with your boyfriend that you won't argue, enter into an agreement that you'll only argue in a noisy place where no one would complain, or run the risk of perhaps being evicted. You might also seek couple counseling to practice and learn other ways to deal with your disagreements.
