Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Can I break a lease because of cockroach infestation

I recently moved into an apartment that has a serious cockroach problem. They are in all rooms of the house and I usually see about 10-15 a day. Can I break a lease (I signed a 1-year contract) due to a roach infestation? They are coming to spray, but I have talked to other people living in the complex and they say it is always a problem. Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

Call your local housing inspector for a report.

It will be difficult to break lease without such a report. Then, ask the question again.
