Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Is it legal for my landlord to raise the rent high enough to give us no option but to move out and then to lower it again after we have moved? I feel like we were illegally evicted. If it is not legal what are my options? Our rent was $1350 a month. At the end of our lease the landlord increased it to $1950 which was way more than we were willing or able to pay so we were forced to move. Three weeks later I saw the same property listed for $1350.

Looks like you may have been a victim of retaliatory constructive eviction. You should go see a lawyer.
