Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Parents lease for college students

3 eighteen year olds signed a lease with one of the boys mothers. The apts do not take cosigners. The boys do not have jobs after 3 months and the mother on the lease is threatening to sue the other parents. The other parents begged her to give notice april 1st and agreed to pay the 60 days after. She waited till may 1 and is now liable for june. Communications are all in email form. Do other parents need to pay for june?

Re: Parents lease for college students

Based on the facts given, it would not appear that the non signing parents would have any liability for the lease payments except as they agreed to do (i.e. April and May). Had they not agreed to make those payments they would not have been responsible for those either, since the three boys were all of legal age.
