Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Property Lien

My husband and I divorced, I then purchased a house. We later remarried but he is not on the loan or the deed. My husband was sued by his landlord and was ordered to pay about $4000. In the meantime, this man is trying to put a lien on my house. Can he do this to my house? What recourse do I have?
