Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Are unlawful detainer actions public record? If so can I just go the the court clerk office and tell them I want to view the records?

They are public records but yo have to have a particular party in mind, the clerk will not give you every unlawful detainer file. Depending on the County, you may be able to look at some of the records on the court web site.
