Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in California

Water off for a week, when we were told 3 days

The water was off in my appartment for a week when we were told 2-3 days.

Towards the end of the week the whole appartment became almost unlivible,

between the sewage, dishes, and no ability to take a shower. Both me and my

roommate spent a few nights at friends and families homes. Beyond that he

locked the laundry room closed for a week before that with no notice, making

it two weeks without washer and dryer. The landlord is willing to give us a

day free of rent for everyday the water was out, but do we have any grounds

to ask for more off?

Re: Water off for a week, when we were told 3 days

You can move out, possible more depending on the lease. This is a breach of the landlord's requirement to provide a habitable environment.

There are possible avenues of recovery, most teeter along the lines of punitive damages for slum-lord conditions.
