Legal Question in Legal Ethics in California

Student Created Contract

I am a law student. A family friend asked me to help her create a contract for when she sells her arts and crafts through her small business. Can I help her create a contract? Is it considered unauthorized practice of law even if I make sure she understands that I am not licensed and that she should have a licensed attorney look it over before she uses it? What if she doesn't, will I be liable? Don't lay people and small business owners create their own contracts all the time? I won't be charging her. Thanks!

Re: Student Created Contract

Charging or not is irrelevant. If you will be giving legal advice, and it appears you will be, then you will be doing the unauthorized practice of law. Is it worth the risk to your future license?
