Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in California

My attorney owes me money

My attorney received payments of over four thousand dollars from me. She never did any legal work on my case; Never returned any money; Would not turn my file over to a new attorney, perhaps there was no file. I heard that she has since quit practicing law. How can I recover my money?

Other than the $4,000, were you damaged (because you are now legally being held responsible for whatever it is you hired the lawyer)? You should immediately file a complaint with the State Bar of California, you are entitled to your files immediately, and the Bar also maintains a victim's restitution fund (part of lawyers' exorbitant dues) to restore what was taken from you. Please let me know if you need help with your lawsuit.

You can sue her for return of your money at the courthouse in the county that the lawyer practiced in. You may also hire an attorney to sue her for malpractice if you sustained injury from her malfeasance. You can contact our office at 714 363 0220 for consultation.
