Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in California

Tinnitus left ear

I had my ears cleaned two months ago, and almost immediately developed a ringing in my left ear (I had ringing in the right, but that was due to water being trapped from swimming)

The ENT that did the cleaning was very aggressive and used loud jets and a loud vacuum to remove wax that had never been removed before

Now I have ringing in my left ear, which is interfering with my ability to concentrate at work (I am a programmer)

I am quite upset since it has not dimminished since that time of the cleaning, even though people say it might go away

I feel like this ENT should be warned about being so aggressive in his treatment

I am not sure if compensation is a possibility here ?

Thanks

Re: Tinnitus left ear

IF you get a medical specialist in that field willing to say that there was malpractice/negligence by the ENT that damaged you, then you have the basis for a claim for malpractice. Such claims are seldom settled without lawsuits, and not often even then. Therefore, if you've got a strong claim and a doctor's opinion supporting you, consider pursuing it. Whether you file suit or not, you could complain to the ENT and to the state agencies.

BTW: water generally can't get 'trapped' in your ear canal other than behind wax or dirt buildup, none of which typically causes ringing. Get an exam and second opinion from a specialist.
