Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

2 years ago my friend insisted i took his car home, I told him I would just wait for him and he kept insisting so i took his car. i didn't have a license at the time and so his car got towed. Now he's trying to sue me for expenses, can he?

He was negligent in allowing you to drive the car since you had no license, but it was not reasonably foreseeable, unless he knew you to be a very poor driver, that you would do something that would cause the police to stop you and result in the car being towed. I am not sure under what theory of law he could sue [or what the statute of limitations to file suit would be] and whether he could collect. But it will cost you time and money to defend against any lawsuit so you should see if you can work out some compromise with him.
