Can an cosigner be sued in the event the other party had an accident in the vehicle?

Not as a co-signer if all you did was guarantee the payments for the purchase of the vehicle and the pink slip and other indica of ownership do not include you.

Anybody can sue anybody for anything .That does not mean the person sued is liable.

In this case if you were sued you would not be liable if you are not on the registration.If you are on the registration then your financial liability is limited to $15,000.00 or $30,000.00 if there were two more people hurt pursuant to California law
