Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I was involved in a car accident during a marriage which will result in a settlement in excess of $500,000. Is this considered community property under California law even though it was for my personal injury.

In a word, yes, if the incident occurred during the marriage. .however it may be apportioned depending on what the settlement included such as past medical bills, pain and suffering, and future earnings. Was a claim made for loss of consortium? Did your wife get any settlement?
