Legal Question in Personal Injury in California
Who pays for the Drs. bills?
I was at a Department Store , and as I went around to the next aisle there was shampoo spilled on the floor and i slipped on it, twisting my lower back and neck as i tried to get my balance so that i wouldn't fall and hurt myself more. when I finally caught my balance, my right wrist was also twisted as i tried, I guess, to hold on to something to prevent me from falling. I asked to speak to a supervisor on duty and the supervisor came and talked to me. i explained to her what had happened and she just listened. She didn't take a report or anything. i ended up going to my Drs. office because I was in so much pain and I thought that I might have injured my back, neck or wrist.now who is responsible for paying the Drs. visit, my X-Rays and my pain medication? and what else should I do?

Short of filing a lawsuit against the store, you could try to negoiate a settlement with management company first. They'll have to submit a claim to their insurance carrier, and you may get an offer to settle from the carrier. If that fails, your only recourse is to sue for compensation. Good luck.

See a personal injury attorney immediately. You probably will get nowhere on your own. Sometimes, they'll make a lowball offer because a person doesn't have an attorney.

Stores are generally liable for slip and falls only if they fail to regularly inspect for such spills, or if they had actual notice of the spill and failed to do anything about it. If they won't at least pay your meds, then talk to a local attorney to see if he thinks you will be able to recover anything.
