I rent a house. My neighbor supposedly tripped on my basketball goal and broke her foot. She wants payment of medical. How do I defend myself?

Call your renters' insurance carrier. If you don't have renters' insurance, you saved $150 - congratulations, now you will need to hire a lawyer and possibly pay damages.

If you have no insurance, tell her that you are very sorry for your her injury, but it is not your fault and you do not have any liability. If she sues you she will lose unless she can prove that the condition was unreasonably dangerous and that you had notice and did nothing to correct it.
