Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

My son sustained a concussion to the head because he told the football coach he was not able to see anymore while running at practice. The coach told him to remove his helmet and get off his field. While trying to leave the field he fainted and collapsed to the ground hitting his head. He was passed by other coaches on the field for a period of time with them replying "he is ok" even though he was lying face down to the ground. The other team members picked him up to get him some assistance but could only carry him so far because he felt like dead weight. One of the players proceeded to get the trainer. When she was informed she instructed them to bring him to her. They stated that he was to heavy to carry, she replied "I hope this is serious". There is a lot more. What can I do to see to it that someone is held accountable for their actions. I want to make sure the next child does not lose his life due to the poor actions of this colleges atheltic team

While you definitely should speak to several experienced personal injury attorneys, if your son, as I hope happened, may have fully recovered from the fall, so that it would not be an attractive case to those lawyers. There also is the problem that the coach telling him to take off the helmet and get off the field might not be deemed negligent if your son was not clear as to what his eye sight problem was. If your son told him there was a significant decrease in his vision then he was negligent.

I would recommend that you voice your concern to the head of the athletic and someone high in administration, along with the people who acted improperly. if you can, speak to the attorney for the school and point out that that type of behavior engenders laws suits.

I hope your son has fully recovered.
