Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Im being sued for 6grand because of a 2 way accident in my residential area. I came to a complete stop headed up a little to check if any cars were coming and proceeded, until i saw a speeding car coming down which i clearly stopped. I did'nt make it past their intersection and i was 2ft away from the stop sign. Our cars werent hit, he was speeding and swerved into a curb. Will i have to pay?

It depends. If the other person can prove that you were negligent by going out too far into the street and impeded his progress, when he was not negligent and you were, you may have to pay for his damages. You will of course argue that he had the chance to slow down and to not over react, as he did.
