Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

I was walking my dog when 3 dogs broke thru their front gate and attacked my dog. I took my dog to the vet and ended up with a $2400 + bill. I want to take the property owner to small claims and was wondering if I can additionally bill them for replacing my sofa a/c my dog ended up bleeding on it + vomited on it and everything soaked thru the cushions. Plus, can I sue for emotional distress and if so, what is a fair amount? My finger was bit by one of the dogs, but I didn't go to the doctor.

I would say go for it, you really don't much anything to lose. Obviously, your demands should be reasonable (i.e. don.t demand $600 for a couch you paid $300 for ten years ago.) The judge will probably shoot it down, but if you don't include it you will never know. I doubt the judge will hold it against you, but will probably ask you why you let the dog on the couch. Further, I am a jogger and hate being approached by a fired up canine. You probably won't be awarded anything for emotional distress, but there probably is no harm in putting it in you complaint. If you keep your demands reasonable you have a pretty good chance of getting what you want. If you go overboard the judge is probably going hold it against you.
