doe's my landlord have the right to enter my fenced backyard without notice?

Normally, absent an emergency, a landlord must give "reasonable" notice to a tenant before entering the property. If you have a lease or signed rental agreement, check to see if there is a clause permitting the landlord to enter the yard for specific purposes, such as maintaining the lawn or other yardwork. If he/she does not such a clause, inform him/her that he/she needs to give you reasonable notice if he/she is going to be on the property. This is usually a minimum of 24 hours notice (it can be verbal notice, like leaving a message on your phone, or written), unless there is an emergency- fire, danger of death, flood, etc.
