find cases to interpret ca state code
If i'm using a ca state code as the rule of law that applies to the facts, and I want to know how a specific word in the code is interpreted and applied, where do I find court decisions that interpreted that word in that code. The word is `investigations'. What does that word mean in the Business and Professions code, 7582.1 --name removed--. How do I find court interpretations or opinions for the code.

Go to the law library and look up the code provision in either Deerings or Wests Annotated Codes. Look at the case annotations following the code provision involved.

There is a book called Shepard's that will give you the citation of all cases referring to a specific code section. You coul dthen read the headnotes to see if the cases applies. It would be faster to go to Witkins and see what his comments are uner that section.
