Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

I let a "friend" rent my car, she is 2 weeks late with the payment, I asked her for either the remainder of the car loan (which is what we had agreed on) Or my car be returned to me with the prorated rent amount of $160 for the 2 weeks she has driven it without payment. She has refused to pay ( because she paid the registration fee, also part of the agreement) and is telling me she will return the car to my mothers house, instead of to me. I am afraid she will do harm to me or my vehicle. I dont know how to handle the situation, I am pregnant and trying not to be overly emotional, so what legal actions should I take?

If one fails to return a rental car, it gets reported stolen. Call the police.

Yeah, I agree that this is probably a police matter at this point. I was thinking about advising you to get the car back before taking legal action, but I think Mr. Stone is right that your "friend's" behavior warrants treating this as a crime in progress rather than a mere breach of contract.
