Legal Question in Real Estate Law in California

Rented Appartment in fire - explain implications

My rental apartment was in fire on Sep-09-00, I dont have renters insurance. Am I covered anyway through the property insurance or landlord, Because the cause of the fire is UN-known.

1. Do I need to collect any kind of fire report from the city, or the landlord insurance company?

2. Right now the apartment is not in living condition, So I am staying in One bedroom.(same complex) Because they dont have any 2 bedroom.

3. If I move out from 2 bedroom, can I get my rent back?

I really appreciate your help on this.

Re: Rented Appartment in fire - explain implications

You are not covered by the landlords insurance. You do have grounds to move out and get some rent back.
