Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in California

Sexual Harassment Victim

Maam/Sir,

In June 1993, the Captain of the Long Beach California Marine Safety Division shot to death one of two female supervisors who cut his hours, threatened his job, and put him in very real life threatening dangers to pressure him into sexual favors. Captain could not take the day-to-day pressures of the two females fighting for his physical intimacy and threatening his ability to provide child support for his three sons. On 9 June 1993, following a threat of suicide and further threats to Captain's job, by his supervisor, he snapped and shot her with his service revolver. This blatant sexual abuse, by women, directed at a male, went on for almost two years, yet no one within the City of Long Beach lent so much as a discouraging remark. I would appreciate any help your office can provide in this sexual harassment case. I realize that the case is criminal in nature, but it is perhaps the most telling case of females sexually harassing a male that has gone before the courts. Please join me in correcting the gross injustice that has befallen this man. These threats are well documented. Free the victim. Sexual harassment is wrong and males are also victims of this crime.

Re: Sexual Harassment Victim

Dear Sir/Madam:

I agree that your fact situation does represent a severe case of sexual harassment. I would be interested in seeing the evidence you refer to, before becoming involved in the matter. The difficulty, as I see it, is that any action against a city or agency of the city, would have to comply with the governmental claims statute. That requires the filing of a claim against the city, within 6 months, which then may be accepted by the city, or rejected, or rejected by operation of law, if not acted upon within 100 days. Only then could a lawsuit be filed against the City of Long Beach.
