Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

Please answer my questions, I don't want go to another website.

Hi I live in Sacramento but I was driving through Marysville on my way to ChicoHere are my questions. Is it legel for the city of Marysville Ca. to have a traffic cam set to go off when the light is yellow? Can I beat a traffic cam ticket if the traffic in front of me stopped causing me to be stuck in the middle of the intersection? Is a traffic cam is just stop motion?

I referred you to highwayrobbery.net because they really are the authority on traffic cameras, for example telling people that they should never contact the court or respond to a traffic camera ticket before reading the good information found on that web site. Different localities buy different traffic camera systems that operate in different ways. If a camera is really set to go off for a yellow light, anybody with a handheld video camera ought to be able to stand near the intersection and make a video recording that could be useful in court. I don't know what you mean by "is a traffic camera just stop motion." Most U.S. video cameras capture 30 still pictures per second, and your TV set plays back 30 still pictures per second. The illusion of motion is something that's generated by your brain when enough still images are viewed at a sufficiently high speed. The number and speed of images taken by any given red-light camera is set by the manufacturer of the systems, and again, what system might or might not be used in any given locality varies. If you get a ticket, you can request discovery which might include the technical specifications for the system as well as whether the system manufacturer also issues the tickets and possibly splits fees with the city. Read "Fight Your Ticket."
