Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

I have to see a judge for minor traffic violation

I was pulled over about a month ago for failure to stop at a stop sign. Before I recieve my ticket in the mail, I learned of a past fix-it ticket I thought I'd taken care of, but hadn't. Because the ticket went to claims (they had the wrong address) and I failed to apear in court or pay the fine for my last ticket they are requiring me to appear in court this time, rather then just setting a fine and letting me pay. I was wondering what I should expect from the judge, how I can make things go smoother. Also I am hoping to find out what additional fines (court costs) that might be added because I was asked to appear.

Thank you for your posted inquiry.

You are being asked to appear in court in this case because an arrest warrant was issued, and only your appearance, or an attorney's appearance on your behalf, will clear up the arrest warrant.

If the court filed additional charges of failure to appear, these could be a misdemeanor, facing you with potential jail time and/or additional fines. The key here is to show responsibility, and taking care of this, yourself or through an attorney, will help you.

I hope that this information helps, but if you have more questions, need more information, or feel that you need legal representation, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. Im happy to help in anyway that I can.
