Legal Question in Traffic Law in California

i received a ticket for driving while my license is suspended a week later i get something in the mail saying prior to my court date i need to go down to court and have my fingerprints taken. why is that? i live in california.

This is called the booking procedure. This may be because you are charged with a misdemeanor offense and the officer did not sufficiently identify you at the time he cited you or for general record keeping.
