Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

An adult male (unmarried) is facing his immanent death. He is estranged from his family and does not want them at his funeral. How can he ensure that his significant other and friends handle funeral and burial? He has no financial means, although he is a one-fourth owner of one piece of real estate along with his family.

Sorry Your Friend is facing his demise. He can make a will, or maybe he would consider becoming an organ donor and/or donating his cadaver to medical science. This way his friends could hold a wake and not have to worry about getting a court order to be in charge of your burial arrangements, or possible fights with estranged relatives. Or Your Friend could retain an attorney in advance to deal with the entire matter..

Marriage or domestic partnership with the significant other would give that person control.
