Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My father died in 2009. I was estranged from him. My parents were not married. Is there any way I can find out if I was left any inheritance? He was placed in a conservatorship 2 years before his death. I do not have a close relationship with my half-siblings.

You should contact the conservator to find out what assets your father had as well as whether he had a will and/or trust.

If he had a will you should request, in writing, a copy of the will and any related documents. You can also do a search in the county records for the county in which he died to find out whether a court probate has been opened by someone.

You should act IMMEDIATELY as there may be time deadlines which may apply for you to make a claim.

You can contact me to discuss the matter.
