Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My father just passed away and he put my step-brother as executor of his will. Prior to his death he told my sister and myself there was gold he had put away to be divided by his four biological children and the money inheritance was to be divided 5 ways to include his adult step son, but my step-brother borrowed that ($450 K) to keep his business afloat @ which point my dad told us we owned part of that company. My dad resided in San Bernardino County. Now we've been told there is no estate.

You need to obtain probate litigation counsel to assist you to file the necessary petitions into probate court; don't be taking the word of the step brother that no estate exists, especially if he is still in business; the estate may be entitled to that business as an estqte asset.
