Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

What info is in a Probate filing?

Dear Sir,

My question is in regards to Probate issue in Nevada. Would a probate filing include information regarding life insurance policies left to beneficiaries? Can anyone review this estate probate information at the County Recorders/Court Recorders Office? An executor of an estate was left a large sum from a life insurance policy. Would this be specified/declared in the Probate information? Does this insurance policy payment/income need to be reported to the IRS?

Thank you for your time.

Re: What info is in a Probate filing?

Insurance policies would not normally be part of the probate estate and no information about policy beneficiaries would be filed with the court. You will have to retain someone to review the probate file or contact the clerk's office and pay for copies of the filings.
