Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My wedding ring was stored at my grandmothers house while I was out of the country. She died and the executor, my uncle, gave my ring away, He claimed it was the ring was just on loan for my wedding day , a claim that was so shocking since he was the photographer at my wedding. I do not original receipts since it was a family heirloom from 35 years ago. Will witnesses be enough evidence and do I have right to sue for punitive damages
