Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

If a claim has been in ledacation for more than 5 years, and the person die before the case was settled. Would the heirs be intitled to the settlement. This is a California workman's comp case.

only if the death was related to the injury, or the worker was found permanent and stationary befoe the death.

Why did the applicant die? Was it work-related? There are no real heirs per se, instead, in worker's compensation, there are only "dependents" and "partial dependents". Did the applicant support anyone? A mother, sister, father, any children under 18?
