Legal Question in Workers Comp in California

Hi, I recently noticed a pile of paycheck stubs that my mother has been saving since she started working at her job for a little over 10 years and was shocked to see hundreds of unpaid overtime hours i want to do something about this, my mother never said anything because she feared that she was going to loose her job if she brought it up, and she still wont cooperate she is paranoid about me going to a lawyer she believes she will just end up being fired from her job, i really need some advise i don't know much on the subject what should i do?

In California, the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) can help collect unpaid wages. Here is their website: http://www.dir.ca.gov/DLSE/.

It would be illegal for an employer to fire your mother because she filed a complaint for unapid overtime.

You or your mother can call the DLSE, explain the situation, get their advice (at no cost), and decide whether or not she wants to file a complaint.
