My rights on a death of a husband?

My husband was killed on the side of the hwy while at work as a tow truck driver i filed a case and my lawyer is the worst he wont fight at all for me and my 2 little girls im 22 and clueless to everything i havent contacted my lawyer in a while and now hes trying to serve me with some papers of some sort i want a lawyer to fight for me and let me know what i have to do step by step but have never got that with mine.i would think i would be taken care of for the rest of my life like my husband would have done for me and my kids.im very confused and hopeless.i got a check from aaa right away for 50,000.oo and the settlement that my laywer wants to me to settle with isnt enough to live for one year also the 71 year old man that killed my husband has died.what should i do and what can i do.
