My question is what is the statute of limitations in the provence of SK in Canada with regards to theft. In other words if someone has stole money from a business how long does that business have to file charges against the person?

Answer: Criminal law in Canada is a Federal responsibility. Theft is covered in the Criminal Code of Canada. The Criminal Code applies to all of the provinces and territories. In Canada, there is no statute of limitations for indictable offences. Therefore, if the theft was over a specified amount (currently $ 5000.00)the buisness could notify the police to have charges laid at any time after the theft is discovered.
