social security number

are there any laws against using another social security number other than your own? i asked this question on 3-26 01 and have never recieved and answer to date?

It is a violation of federal law to use a SSN which has not been assigned to the user. It may also be fraud under state law depending upon the manner in which it is used.

Why one would want to do this escapes me at this point.
