Legal Question in DUI Law in Colorado

First time DUI

I was pulled over on April 14 in Colorado Springs for weaving. I did the roadside test and I requested to have the blood test instead of blowing. After giving my sample at the hospital, I was released to my wife. This is my first DUI and I have never had any other traffic tickets. I was very cooperative with the officers. I know I was pretty drunk but I haven't received my results or a notice of revocation yet. My charges are weaving (no points) DUI (12 pts) and per se (12 pts.) I'm guessing my BAC to be between .15 and .20 just based on what I drank and the amount of time. My first court date is on May 28. I've up to this point been a responsible person with a good job, and since the incident I started attending AA meetings and outpatient treatment for alcoholism. I know I am guilty of driving drunk and I just want to know what to expect in court. What can I expect as a first-time offender? I'm getting mixed messages from different people about getting legal representation. Should I get a lawyer for the criminal aspect or will it be pretty much a cut-and-dry plea bargain? What about MV trial? Thanks for your assistance.

Re: First time DUI

You will probably be offered either a DUI or a DWAI (depending on the BAC and other factors) with probation, community service, public service, drug/alcohol counseling and those types of things. With a first offense the likelihood of getting jail is minimal.
