Re: Wrong drivers license number on ticket

Unfortunately a mistake in the license number would not get the matter dismissed. It could be used to cross examine the officer on his attention to detail.

Re: Wrong drivers license number on ticket

Hello:

The information that must be correct on the ticket are: Name and date of birth (identity), location (venue), date and time, and the charge. Even if, however, one of these is incorrect, the prosecutor can always motion the Court to correct or amend the ticket/charge.

The wrong driver's license number on the ticket will not get it dismissed in Court.

However, with the wrong driver's license number on the ticket, you may hope that maybe, somehow it won't get recorded on your wife's driving record at the Department of Motor Vehicles. You'll have to wait and see. I recommend not mentioning the wrong number to the prosecutor, because he will just have it corrected.

I hope this information helps. David Colt
