17year old wants to continue living with grandparents

Our grandson for a variety of reasons has been living withe us for past 3 years.Custodial parent(mother) has a history of drug problems etc.Our grandson has lived happily with us for the past 3 years.He has been an honor roll student each year 3.90 gpa .We have not collected one dime of assistance during this time.Now because of a dispute over airfare for his bi-annual visit back to Colo. from our home in Mich. His mother wants him against his will to move back with her.Does he have any rights?

Everyone has rights! You should meet with an experienced family law attorney and ask for a court order to have the boy remain with you. This order could take many forms but clearly there are options available to you.
