Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

Joint custody

Father and step-mother in Army stationed Co.(home from Korea now).Child 5yrs old in mi. and paternity established with joint custody(name change and name on birth c. to be done/2 weeks).Mother numerous homes w/boyfriends,6/in 18 mos.,pregnancies w/ each(aborted),4 children, all diff. dads, 1 child gone due to adoption,5yr. old neglected, re:childhood immun.,meds for ashtma/enphysema,(has allowed against Dr.s orders to spend time in smoking homes!) school...this child never stays w/mom. He is shipped to many realatives and friends, especially when the 20 yr. old mom get angry w/him.(his mouth and personal observations)child is underweight .never had own room...I am grandma and I am soooo worried, as are parents for this child. living conditions are outrageous!!! been keeping records of things...

Need help!!! on custody chances???? Please...we are not weel off finacially and my son and DIL are just back from Korea and we need help!

You mentioned that paternity has been established. I'm unclear whether a court action has been filed, and, if it has been filed, in which state. In general terms, the state where the child lives has jurisdiction. If the child and the child's mother reside in Michigan, the courts in Michigan will likely have jurisdiction in this case, and you will need to contact an attorney in Michigan. However, it is possible that another state (such as Colorado) would have jurisdiction, but I would need additional information from you to make this determination.
