Legal Question in Family Law in Colorado

I am currently in the process of getting a divorce - we have filed the initial paperwork and are working on the financial statement that must be turned in at our first status conference next week. My soon to be ex thinks we need to continue to carry life insurance coverage through our employers on ourselves. I do not have a problem with that, but he wants me to name him as the beneficiary and I am not comfortable with that. Is it possible to just name my children as the beneficiaries, then in a will I can name someone else in my family as the trustee of that money until the children are 18 so that he does not have direct access to the money?

Yes. You can name your children, form a trust and name a trustee. I am always leery of insurance for the benefit of a former spouse.
