Legal Question in Immigration Law in Colorado

Naturalization

I had my citizenship interview today and the BCIS employee told me that she cannot make a decision right at this moment about my case. It got neither denied or approved.

When I got my green card in 1997 it took another 7 months until I finally moved to the US. I had so many things to take care of (selling cars, quit job, sell househould goods, etc.) that it just was not possible to go earlier. I also wanted to spend Christmas with the family and not just go so fast.

The BCIS allows you be absent up to 12 months and still meet the residency requirements. I was out of the country for about 7 months. To show them that I never abandonded residency I submitted lots of paperwork showing that I prepared my immigration/move (i.e. ordering quotes from moving companies and other related stuff). It also showed a bank account and how the Dollar amount was growing during these 7 months (far beyond of what a tourist would ever need). The BCIS employee told me it will take several weeks before I get the decision vial mail. I had the impression that the employee was not really open to my arguments during the interview and I did not wanted to make her angry so I stopped asking questions.

What shall I do now?

Re: Naturalization

If you have a name and/or INS number for the BCIS examiner, you could submit a brief with documents to prove your eligibility. If not, wait for a decision.
