Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Colorado

Using my name without my permission

A company I wrote articles for in colorado US. have used them to promote products, by assuming my identity and registering on ezine sites in my name and then posting my articles. I am an author in the UK, and they have used my name without my permission. Is there some law against this and who can I report it to? Is there any official body that oversees this sort of thing?

Re: Using my name without my permission

You have a variety of remedies; first step is to look at whatever agreement you had with the Colorado company to ascertain what the permitted use was. Assuming your identity is most likely to be outwith the scope of the agreement, but may be closely-enough related to the subject matter as to influence your choice of forum -- probably best to do this in Colorado anyway. I can recommend counsel there if you like.

Best wishes,
