Legal Question in Employment Law in Colorado

I got fired last week for smelling like alcohol. At 8:30 in the morning my boss said that I didn't but at 12:30 after lunch he said that I did. I had a beer the night before. When I had admitted to that the COO of the company told me that I could take a blood test and if anything came back in it that I would be fired anyways. Then she told me that I was incapable of driving myself home and authorized someone else to drive myself and my car home. Is what happened ok legaly?

In Colorado, as in most states, if an employee is hired for an indefinite period of time and there is no agreement limiting the employer's right to discharge the employee, there is at-will employment. That means the employee or employer may terminate the employment relationship with or without cause at any time, with or without advance notice.

Unless you have a basis to claim a contract (express or implied) that required some sort of accurate cause or this was a termination based on illegal discrimination (gender, race, age, disability, so on), the short answer is that yes this is legal.

I recommend that you talk with a local attorney to review the issue as there is no way to authoritatively answer your question just based on your limited facts. Good luck.
