Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Colorado

I live in Colorado. Moved out of a small house I was renting at the end of June, after living there almost four years. For the last month of the rental the landlord didn't fix the broken shower, so I couldn't shower. He also never supplied me with a copy of the lease as required until I demanded it. The landlord is trying to tell me he has to keep the entire security deposit of $550. The reasons he gave were a: my cat was urinating on the carpet/carpet is SO mashed down he can't get the carpet to stand up, so he needs to replace the entire carpet in the house (approx. 700 sq. ft.). My cat does NOT urinate on the carpet, period. The house never smelled like cat urine, a very distinct smell, and I have witnesses to prove it. In addition, the carpet was matted down and stained when we moved into the house and probably getting to the end of its lifespan. B: the landlord says he has to repaint the entire living room because only one coat of paint is on the walls. Again, not true. Every wall has two coats of paint, plus one wall also was primered. By the way, the living room was bright red and pink when I moved into the house. I painted the walls an appropriate color. The ceiling and baseboards need a touch up, probably for a cost of less than $30. Do I fight the landlord's deductions, is it worth it, will I get into more legal trouble, or do I walk away from half a grand? Thanks for the help.
