Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

Trusts - define Grandchild

My Father just passed away, in his will ke left 40% of his trust to his ''Grandchildren'' . I have 2 stepdaughters who have always known him as Grandpa and he thought of as his grandchildren. I also have a daughter out of marrage who's Mom had her husband added to the Birth certificate later. How do you determine who is a grandchild. My Sister also has 4 kids of her own and remarried and has 3 step kids???

Re: Trusts - define Grandchild

A "grandchild" as does not include step children normally. A grandchild must be related by blood or by adoption.

Step-children are not considered "children" except by blood or court order unless Grandpa specifically left them something in his estate planning. Call me or e-mail me if you have further questions.
