Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Colorado

widows rights

I have been living in and making payments on the house my husband and I lived in prior to his death 3 1/2 years ago. The house is in his name, however we married after his diagnosis of leukemia, so that, in his words ''you will be protected and the house will be yours''. I have 6 step children (all grown). I would like to have the house put in my name for tax and insurance purposes. Also, when I decide to sell (I am 56 yrs old), I'm sure the current status of ownership will create a multitude of problems. My husband did not have a will - his illness was swift and left him unable to do much in the way of legal matters.
