Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

Hi,

I've been divorced for four and half years. My ex husband is a police officer who's schedule is five days of work, three days off, then five days on and two days off - one of the reasons. He has over six weeks vacation per year, several holidays off, several paid time off days, etc. The children live with me primarly, he has them two nights per week from 4 pm afternoon until 7 the next morning. On the weekends, I'm given Sat. from 4pm to Sun. 11 a.m. I have no weekends without the children or full days as other parents that are divorced. He takes vacation days on the weekend not to see the kids but to try acting classes - I have been trying to rebuild my life and find it impossbile because I have no time. Can I ask for a amendment to the agreeement for every other weekend because he is capable of taking the time off now to watch the children?

Please let me know - my girls would love the extra time with their dad - they are 12 and 15.

In addition, I was alotted a certain amount of money from his retirement which we negotiated because i didn't take any pension from him, He has just opted to take a "5 year drop plan" which means he is officially retired, but can work the next five years without contributing to pension - does he owe me this money now?

You could file a motion to modify the parenting schedule and go back to court to rearrange the schedule.

As far as the retirement monies, I do not have enough information to give you an answer. If you were awarded a sum of retirement money then you should have received it per the provisions of the final decree. You can not, however, modify a property settlement portion of the decree. This includes pension and retirement accounts.
