Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

I live in CT, I have two children each by a different mother. I need to know how child support is determined in this case. I recently got a new job making more money and am trying to get my support up to date. I am currently making 20 dollars per hour and working 40 hours per week. I am also carrying both of my children's insurance which is 100 dollars per week. I need some help before I go to court pro se, on what to expect. Thank you

Its a little hard to explain, but here goes. You fill in your gross income, net income, and deductions in the Guidelines Worksheet. After that, you can deduct the child support you are paying on the other child as payments for qualified children. You use that adjusted figure for the chart calculations and get that new amount. You may need to prove the other obligation and that you are in fact paying on other obligation. I can answer more questions if you have them.

Hi.

Congratulations on the new job.

You need to look at the child support guidelines. You can get a copy of the booklet on the Connecticut Judicial Website. You have a separate obligation for each child and the mother's income will be a factor in determining the support for each child.

Below is a link to the guidelines and instructions.
