Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

As part of our divorce settlement, I agreed to buy my ex out. The was to be no payment until my son graduated high school. He threatened and bullied me constantly to the point that I refinanced the house & signed a note that I would pay the balance to him in 5 years. I only did this to get him off my back. Now he's threatening me again & wants the balance of his $. Do I have any recourse since this was done outside of the divorce court?

Usually the divorced stipulations state that a modification of the agreement is not enforceable unless it is executed with the same formalities as the stipulation. Furthermore, if it's not a court order, you may not be bound by the new arrangement. You should see a lawyer.
